Applications for the 2026-2027 Mini-Grant program are now closed. Applications for the 2027-2028 Mini-Grant program will open in summer 2027.
The Gaines Center's Mini-Grant program invites applications from any University of Kentucky college or department to apply for a limited number of awards annually. The humanities intersect with every discipline on the University of Kentucky campus, and, last year, Gaines' mini-grant program created partnerships with a number of campus departments highlighting just how rich those intersections can be.
These grants, up to $500, are intended to support humanities-related programming and expenses related to speaker fees and/or event logistics. Based upon previous mini-grant programs, events matching funds from partner departments have been especially successful and are encouraged (though not required).
