Co-sponsored by the Gaines Center for the Humanities, Adam Becker, author of More Everything Forever: AI Overlords, Space Empires, and Silicon Valley’s Crusade to Control the Fate of Humanity will be at the Singletary Center for the Arts at 6:00 PM on Wednesday November 18, 2027. Becker will speak on the implications of Silicon Valley’s visions of AI for the environment in general, and climate change in particular. More Everything Forever was named a Best Book of the Year in 2025 by Scientific American, Kirkus, and Conversation. Adam, who became a science journalist and author after earning his PhD in astrophysics, also hosts a new and growing podcast called Dreaming Against the Machine, in which he interviews expert guests about how to envision better futures.
