Kiese Laymon
Co-sponsored by the Gaines Center for the Humanities, the Creative Writing Division of the Department of English welcomes acclaimed author Kiese Laymon to campus. Laymon will speak at the Singletary Center for the Arts at 6.00pm on Wednesday February 19, 2025.
Born and raised in Jackson, Mississippi, Kiese Laymon is the Ottilie Schillig Professor in English and Creative Writing at the University of Mississippi and author of the novel Long Division, the memoir Heavy, and the essay collection How to Slowly Kill Yourself and Others in America. He was named a 2022 MacArthur Fellow.
