Fellows perform sustained research on topics they choose with the help of faculty advisors and the Director of the Center.
General Timeline to Completion:
- Spring Semester, Junior Year: Fellows prepare topics, write prospectuses, and form faculty advisory committees with the guidance of the Gaines Center associate director.
- Summer, Between Junior and Senior Year: Fellows research and begin drafting portions of their theses.
- Fall Semester, Senior Year: Fellows continue to research and draft their theses, meeting regularly with the Gaines Center administrators. They also consult with their faculty advisory committees regularly to discuss research and review drafts.
- Spring Semester, Senior Year: Fellows complete their theses and prepare for the oral thesis defense. Oral defenses take place in April. Final versions of the thesis are submitted to faculty advisory committees and the Gaines Center by the end of the Spring Semester.
